Full Time Coach: Redmond / Sammamish / Issaquah / Bellevue / Mercer Island

Excel With Chess provides before & after school chess instruction for Lake Washington School District, Mercer Island School District, Bellevue School District and Issaquah School District schools. We are seeking a full time Lead Coach to join our team of coaches.

The Full Time Coach will Lead in the supervision of elementary age children at before/after school chess programs for children ages 5-11. This coach will be responsible for bringing chess sets to the school, taking attendance and calling parents of absent kids, tracking tournament games between students, and ensuring students are checked out after the 1 hour club is over. They will also lead their own group of students while teaching basic chess strategies and tactics.

Each school club runs for 60 minutes long and also includes 15 minutes to arrive early and set up and 15 minutes afterwards for cleanup. Coaches will be at the school for about 90 minutes total.

Full Time Coaches will work around 25-30 weeks per year at 10 schools per week. This job also includes 7 weeks of 8am-4pm chess camps along with ~5 Saturdays per year helping staff chess tournaments.

One of the biggest benefits of this job is 10+ weeks paid TO each year. These weeks are generally in early September, Winter Break during December, Spring Break around April, and a couple of weeks towards the end of June.

This job requires the candidate to travel to different school locations. With the majority of locations being in Mercer Island, Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond and Sammamish.

Required Qualifications: Reliable Transportation, Submit to a Background Check, 18+.

Desired Qualifications: Teaching/Tutoring/Coaching Experience, Basic Chess Knowledge, experience with children ages 5-11.

Compensation: This full time salaried coach will earn between $40,000-$55,000 per year. This position includes coaching chess at 10 schools per week. One before school chess club each day from 8am-9am and one after school chess club per day ~3:30pm-4:30pm.
